Jews worldwide, it is said, considered Rothschild not only the “King of the jews” but also the “King of kings.” The angry anti-jewish caricature below parodied jewish emancipation in Europe, suggesting that jews expected their new-found liberties to allow them to profit even further at the expense of the christians. In truth, jewish wealth and power did expand exponentially.
